Learning and Narrative Laboratory for Just Transition kicks off in Madrid

The goal is to establish a space for experimentation and collaborative learning among organizations seeking to come together to drive a just transition in Madrid.

With the first meeting held on October 31, we officially launched the Learning and Narratives Lab, a space designed to foster collaboration and mutual learning among various entities as part of the Fair Urban Transitions Program, supported by Porticus.

Over the next 18 months, the Lab will serve as a meeting point for participating organizations, united by a shared commitment to advancing together toward a just transition in Madrid. This initiative brings together Atelier itd, Cooperativa Tangente, Dark Matter Labs, Democratic Society, EAPN Madrid, Foro NESI, Fundación Montemadrid, ICLEI and ICE-UPM.

Through collaboration and the exchange of learnings, we aim to enhance both the individual impact of each entity and the collective impact, contributing to addressing the social and environmental challenges faced by the city of Madrid in its decarbonization and climate change adaptation processes.

In this first meeting, through an open dialogue, we laid the foundations for collaboration between the entities and addressed key topics, such as the diversity of perspectives among participants and the need for flexible theoretical and working frameworks that adapt to the specific contexts of the city. All of this with the goal of implementing effective practical experiences that integrate various actors into the process of a just transition in Madrid.

For Atelier itd, the path to just transitions is built collaboratively. This is why we support spaces like the Laboratory, where a very diverse collective intelligence is built, lessons are learned from mistakes, and achievements are amplified. Participating in this initiative represents a process of profound and valuable learning. It allows us to exchange ideas with organizations that work with city actors with whom we have not yet collaborated, broaden our vision of just transitions, explore new ways of telling these stories, and better understand the narratives around climate change in Madrid.
